The
Lewis Library Web Site
The
library's web site assists in marketing the Library's resources
and services both on campus and to new and under-represented
constituencies. It facilitates the Library's goal to become
an increasingly vital component in the University by making
available information resources critical to the needs of UNTHSC.
It reflects the Library's leading role in the management of
scholarly information and the exploitation of information
technology for the benefit of teaching, research, and patient
care.
The
web site allows quick access to the experienced user while
simultaneously using a navigational structure that leads the
novice user to appropriate resources. It provides easy access
to information resources regardless of the user's location,
and provides access by authenticated users to license-restricted
resources. The web site complies with state-mandated regulations
regarding accessibility for the disabled.
The
Web Content Group, in collaboration with Information Technology
Services, takes the lead role in coordinating the design,
creation, and maintenance of the Library's website in a manner
consistent with UNTHSC and State of Texas policies. The Web
Content Group receives input from appropriate Library staff
on the inclusion and content of specific pages and develops
web-based tools and resources tailored to meet the teaching,
learning, and research needs of the Library's users.
