The Gibson D. Lewis Health Science Center Library serves each school within the University of North Texas Health Science Center. The library is committed to excellence in providing access to the world’s medical literature. Our mission is to support the education, research, patient care, and community service goals of the University of North Texas Health Science Center at Fort Worth. By offering access to medical literature and information in all its forms, Lewis Library strives to meet the information needs of our faculty, staff, students, local and regional practitioners, and members of the public.
The Lewis Library is a member of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine and serves as a Resource Library within the South Central Region of the Network. The Library conducts outreach within 24 counties of North Central Texas. The Library fulfills its annual Resource Library Outreach subcontract by providing instruction in the use of National Library of Medicine resources, promoting database offerings and educational opportunities available via NLM, and collaborating with departments who seek to apply for NLM grants and funding opportunities. The Library also participates in the Loansome Doc document delivery program to promote access to medical information.
