Lewis Library has added these two new databases that help students to prepare for their future careers while helping faculty and staff to learn new skills.
The LearningExpress Library [1] helps students to prepare for both admissions tests and professional certification exams, including the MCAT for medicine, PCAT for pharmacy, and PANCE for physician assistants. It also includes a wide variety of skill-building resources on topics such as business writing and interviewing, as well as software tutorials for popular Microsoft and Adobe products.
The Job & Career Accelerator [2] is described as an "online career management system." It includes more than 1,000 occupation profiles, an Occupation Matcher, a database of more than five million available jobs and internships, and tools for creating résumés and cover letters. These documents can be stored for later access, printed, and downloaded in several different formats. Job & Career Accelerator also provides access to computer skills training, as well as tutorials on job applications and interviews. Alerts and reminders are available to help manage your job search.
PLEASE NOTE: You must create a free personal account to use these databases. Only one account is required; the user name and password that you create for one will also work with the other.
These resources are provided through the TexShare Database Program, a service of the Texas State Library and Archives Commission.
