Notes on Fees:

  1. The library reserves the right to set different fees for large projects from any user category.
  2. Employees of businesses in the highest fee category cannot use their status in one of the lower categories to obtain lower charges for their work-related information needs.
  3. Patrons are welcome to make photocopies in the library for as little as $.07 per page.
  4. Document charges above are base fees, which cover the first 50 pages.  Additional pages are 25 cents each.  Copyright permission fees and lending library fees are added as needed; these additional charges are cleared with the patron before they are incurred.  Color pages can be provided on request, but will be charged as separate document.
  5. See the Document Delivery page for details about rush service.

Services Offered:

  • Document Delivery – Lewis Library can provide its patrons with copies of journal articles or book excerpts from its own collections and those of other libraries.  See the Document Delivery page for details.
  • Literature Search – The professional librarians of Lewis Library will efficiently search the biomedical and health literature to find citations pertinent to the topic at hand.  This service may incur extra fees if a search is needed on a rush basis or if any pay-as-you-go databases are searched.
  • Citation Verification – This is the process of attempting to identify the source or to correct elements of a citation.  Citations are often given to the library that are incomplete or inaccurate, and they must be verified before further action can be taken.  This is almost always a difficult and time-consuming task that draws upon specialized knowledge and resources.
  • Library Card – UNTHSC students, staff, and faculty use their ID badge to check out library material.  Other patrons are eligible to receive a library card that allows them to check out items from the library’s collections.  For more information about card accounts, fees, and loan policies, see http://library.hsc.unt.edu/policies/Circ.Policies.cfm.  The cost to replace a lost library card is $5.
  • Class Attendance – Lewis Library provides a variety of research and software classes, both on campus and at remote facilities.  Attendance at most classes taught in Lewis Library is subject to the fees and restrictions shown above.  We also teach free classes on literature searching and online information sources.  Many of these classes are sponsored by the National Library of Medicine and may be available for continuing medical eduction (CME) or continuing nursing education (CNE) credit.  Contact Lisa Smith, Outreach Librarian, at 817-735-2601 or lsmith@hsc.unt.edu for more information about these classes.
